Whatever the country, Community Management is a new kind of profession. We need to understand this better, so we analysed data from our platform to try to answer this question: “At what time do the CMs who use Over-Graph work?”
Our Professor OG proposed a presentation of the hours of connection of our users, who are mainly professional Community Managers. More than 10,000 users were analyzed.
Here’s the summary:
Here are the conclusions:
1. The peak of activity of our Community Managers is situated between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.: the time just after the lunch break is conducive to the work of publication, moderation or analysis.
2. A little more than 25% of the daily activity is situated outside of conventional office hours (9 a.m-7 p.m.): Community Managers cannot disconnect completely from their communities, they have to be on stand-by 24/7 in order to moderate their communications. Community Management is also often independent, or a profession of “extras”, which by default implies working early in the morning or late in the evening.
3. If the volume of connection in the morning (between 7 a.m. and noon) is fairly regular, after 2 p.m. the activity falls sharply, with a usage at 7 p.m. which corresponds to that of the morning: CMs work far more in the afternoon than in the morning!
